We appreciate there have been a number of engagements taking place in our community regarding various strategies and projects, including our major project Bicentennial Square and both the Bunbury Economic Development Strategy and Arts & Culture Strategy. All recent feedback and engagement findings will be utilised for the development of Council Plan so you can be assured if you have already provided feedback it will be utilised. 

We currently have a ten-year Strategic Community Plan, covering the period 2022 to 2032. Major reviews of these strategic plans are conducted on a four-year cycle with the City’s next major review being due in 2026. The Local Government Act also recently underwent a reform, which includes replacing the SCP with a simplified short-form Council Plan that sets high-level objectives over a 10-year period.

All community feedback will be analysed and reported on by an independant consultant who is facilitating our engagement activities. This will then be reviewed and opportunities identified to create practical and measurable actions in-line with our community's needs, priorities and aspirations. 

These priorities have been identified by our community in the MARKYT Community Scorecard 2025. Through this further council plan engagement, we look to dive a little deeper into what these priorities mean to our community, to ensure our objectives and actions are aligned to what our community would like to see delivered. 

Absolutely! We have a number of pop up/drop ins taking place through September, plus full community workshops for those who would like to workshop their ideas with the City and other community members. 

Our Strategic Community Plan has previously been reviewed every 2 years (minor review) and 4 years (major review). These review periods will also be applied for the new Council Plan. 

The current strategic vision for the City of Bunbury is 'Welcoming and Full of Opportunities". This vision will be reviewed and redefined through the Council Plan development and engagement process. 

The Council Plan is a guiding strategic plan for local governments that reflects needs, priorities and aspirations of our community.
